Enormouschampion Studio

Browsing through Grain Edit again and was reading an interview with enormouschampion studio and found these packaged wood animals. They are part of a series called 'The Kingdom Animalia' and they are all lazer cut animals finished by hand.

However its not the product i'm interested in its the packaging for them. Each animal has its own little box and its the packaging that shows how special these animals are. It states information such as 'this is not a toy' and its measurements, which is only portrayed on the packaging that this items is meant for adults really. The style of the packaging is something similar to the way I am wanting to work within the next year, very simple block shapes for imagery and a big focus on layout and colour.

Astronomy - Sue Doeksen

Ok i have literally just stumbled on this little gem, Sue Doesksen is an illustrator which is not particularly what i am wanting to look at but the way she work is brilliant. The few pieces I have put on here really get the sense of the hand made approach across and deal with layout. This hand made approach is something i am focusing in on this year and so felt this work really relevant to my practice.

Also another major reason she is on here is that her work is very suitable for children and this is my main audience for most of my projects this year. Very colourful, very fun and getting kids involved.

If i can get an element of this in my work then i think it would be perfect to connect with kids.

Astronomy - Simon Page

Simon Page is a designer who I have been looking at all summer and who has inspired me for my first chosen brief on producing an astronomy pack for kids.

It was his series of posters for the International year of Astronomy 09 that I first saw and I just realised how simple something can be to give a message. These posters are made up of circles and lines and even without the title we understand what the subject matter is about. I think the simplicity of these posters is why they are so successful.

I am aiming to use some of these simple techniques in my own project to connect with kids and connect with them about astronomy

A new beginning

Ok im feeling motivated.
This is the start of the 3rd year, the final year and the year to show who i am.

Cake Packaging

These are some of the most beauitifuly packaged cakes that i have come across in the past few weeks.

This first one was made by the baker herself to package her walnut cake. The box is really eye catching because of the strong yellow and contrasting blue which really works in giving it a vintage feel. Also the stripes give it a very sweet shop feel to me and makes the product seem more luxurious.

I unfortunantly dont know the designer of these cake boxes but again i think the stripes that have been used do give a very old fashioned sweet shop feel to it. I also think that these work in the size range shown.

These are designed my 'mind design' they have used hand drawn illustrations and the a digital label on top. These I feel are related to my own practice as i am looking into a more hand rendered design, and this has shown me that using minimal colour and a white stock can work really well.

These cupcake boxes by Sprinkles are simplicity at its finest. a simple logo on the outside of the box and a really effective colour on the inside of the box that sets the product of nicely.

These cake packaging designs were for weddings rather than retail and are for individual slices rather than full cakes. but the principle is the same, i am really inspired by the use of different colours and patterns used in some of these that make them work nicely as a set and give a really fun element to the design.

LOV-E

these designs by LoV-E are gorgeous, i was instantly drawn in to this first image because of the typography. I think its a beautiful typeface and im wanting to produce something like this in my own work.

Great to see these designs working into a digital distribution, showing me that the design of something like this doesn't have to be compromised.

Mihail Mihaylov

This poster has got a great hand drawn approach to it, even if it is a bit illegible the illustration and colour considered works well together.

Each character has been considered and works beautifully as a alphabet as well as an individual character.

Own Brands

These are some images i have come across for supermarket own brands. I want to design for the Morrions Value range as its a popular range with shoppers but i believe the packaging puts some people off as the bring yellow is very noticeable and dose portray a very value range. I think a value range can look a bit more creative than these.

Hyperact

North Star Fund, This leaflet design was made for the North star fun and the reason i really like it is because of the cut, it folds together but still revealing each page because of the diagonal cut.

This promotional leaflet designed for the white house, is beautifully folded. I love how the format starts as a square and opens into a long rectangle, also the triangle design of the folding is kept throughout the design of the leaflet.
