some spiffing menus

Eyeframe services is a fantastic site i have just stumbled upon that is full of dvd menus for some big time films. here are some of my favorites

Transporter 3,

I really like this menu as its encorporated into the image rather than over the top.

The hand drawn type has kept with the style of this menu and workes really well.

This is just great to look at visually and is perfect for the films.

1950s imagery

These are some of the images i have been looking at using in my idents, im finding it really hard to animate them in any kind of way so im trying to take the stills and just use basic techniques to incorporate these images and have other elements such as text animated.

I really like the grainy texture to this image it works really well with the duotone. i want to use this texture to show that aged look.

Bela Lugosi, the all time icon of Vampire characters in films.

Its the duotone image of the vampire here that i want to use, its quite dramatic and cheesy and very typical of the 1950's movies.

From paper to screen

This is a very simple example showing the design proces from paper to screen. its easy to see where the final has originated from.

More Videos

This music video uses an effect to give it an old fashioned shaky screen as if it were being played on a projection. i like this style and i was hoping to try and use something similar (but not as violently) to show the age of my film season.

This video uses a cut out style that i am thinking about using in my own project, rather than black colour cut outs, like most of the research i have done so far, this uses photographic cut outs in the animation. This would be great for me to use therfore i can use the characters from the films.

DVD interfaces

House - Im a huge fan of house already and have always noticed the title sequence fro the TV series and now for the dvd menu, it's not big fancy set up but its very effective, the style of it is consistent throughout and with the TV series. The menus are all set in the same style which could been seen as a little univentive in out brief but i think it works really well and sticks with the medical theme.

Cult idents

These idents are for a cult movie season. even though they are video i really like the type tha'ts used. the type is part of the video rather than something that is written over the top of it. this might not be something that i adopt for my idents but it just really interested me.

Also with these BBC3 Idents i am probably going to use this style but these are just some idents that i always like when they come on the TV, they work really well and again the type is interrogated as part of the video rather than written digitaly over the top.

Stop Motion Horror

Iv included this video because of the beginning sequence that is very simple and quite a quirky little scene. im not sure how this can fit into my ident visually but the concept behind it is something im keeping in mind.

The Vampire Show - The ident on this video before the film is what im looking at here, even though the clip is still quite good and the contents is still relevant, the ident is not scary but it has that slightly erie and quirky feel to it.

its the ident on this aswell that i origionaly saw, the slightly shaky screen is very given for the 1950s style movies and this workes well here. it also worked really well in black and white and i might consider having most of the ident in greyscale and focus the colour more on the text

Tony Hawk

This has just been suggested to me by Heather and Tony, finally something that deals with a quirky, amusing slightly cheesy way of annimating horror, and it has a 1950's movie style on one of the clips. a great find so thankyou.

her morning elegance - oren lavie

This is just a great example of stop motion videos, its absolutely brilliant and must have taken ages but just shows how effective it can be when you put the tie and effort into it.

tim burton mania sky trailer

I'm not really sure what this ident is for but i love the style of it, its a bit to far fetched for the style i am looking at but but the contense of it and the way its put together and the way it flows are why i have chose to put it up here. i also like the fact that this is obviously for scary movies but the ident itself is lighthearted.

Even though this video isnt from this site, this is a good site for movie title sequences.

kyle cooper

Even though im doing the idents brief i cant help but look at things like this, here is a great site from kyle cooper for title sequences, but most of them are just storyboards. These sequences are all animations and really show the style of the movie that they are introducing.

Brilliant idents

These idents are so simple, a very simple style, one colour and effective. i really like the ideas behind them, and that each one is very short which is what we are aiming to do.

Horror idents

These are some idents of youtube that are sort of the idea im getting at, i dont want anything ot heavy in horror but a bit of fun and a bit of cheese.

horror movie opening titles

The part that im really looking at in this title sequence is the beginning and the end, i like the simplicity of it but still works, the part in the middle is a bit to much for me.

ok so same movie but very different take on it, the type interacts with the imagery in the video.

Style and muffins

This TV ad just caught my attention, the style of this is really what im looking at, very simple and slightly outdated style, however also useing photographic imagery. this is something im considering using in my next project for movie title sequences.

Lisa Mishima
Her site is so beautiful i almost dont want to share it, but you have to check her work out, the story boarding is simple but dont have to watch the videos.
